Vivid’s 2010 season has been confirmed –
March – ‘The Government Inspector’ directed by Andrew Berriman.
June – ‘A Life in the Theatre’ directed by the ensemble.
October – ‘Closer’ directed by Daniel Williams.
November – ‘Shakespeare’s R+J’ director TBC.


January 2010
Vivid undertook the UOT Joint Investigation Project for the 4th year running with HOD Neil Ventress commenting ‘the praise for Vivid was unanimous! Once again the students found the actors so convincing and believable. Thank you.


November 2009
Vivid Artistic Director Mark Edwards ran workshops on Ensemble Performance and drama sessions on improvisation at the Central European Drama Conference in Slovakia.

Many thanks to all those who supported the recent tour of ‘After Darwin’ and the production of ‘The Revenger’s Tragedy’ at Arc. Both were excellently received with ‘After Darwin’ considered to be Vivid’s strongest piece yet by audiences.

Tickets for the final Vivid show of the year, ‘The Revenger’s Tragedy’ are available the Arc, Stockton-on-Tees box office. The show runs from the 25th-28th November @ 7.30pm. Educational workshops are available on approaches to text and classical acting. Please contact Vivid for more information.

Vivid will be in attendance and leading workshops at the Central European Drama Conference in early November.

Vivid artistic director Mark Edwards directed a devised piece called ‘Type:Cast’ for Theatre Royal Newcastle and took it to the Teatro Litta Theatre Festival in Milan.


September 2009
Vivid’s production of ‘The Collector’ by John Fowles received excellent reviews at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe. Plays International gave the piece 5-stars and Edinburghguide awarded a 4-star review with the closing comment s ‘captivating performances...an absorbing production...Vivid theatre indeed.’ The play also received 5-star reviews on the Edfringe website.

Vivid’s first production of 2010, ‘The Government Inspector’ is in pre-production with a translation kindly given to Vivid by playwright/actress Charlotte Pyke. More information to follow.

Vivid's shows of 'The Collector' at the Arc were described by The Crack Magazine as 'Vivid Theatre Company at the top of their game.'

Vivid received a prize for the best designed poster at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival at the Dupliquick Awards. See EdFringe and Dupliquick for more information.

Artistic Director Mark Edwards has been asked to lead a group of actors at the International Drama Festival run by Teatro Litta in Milan during October 2009.

Vivid’s November production of ‘After Darwin’, in conjunction with the Centre for Behaviour and Evolution at Newcastle University, has been awarded a £1500 grant by the Catherine Cookson Foundation.

Artistic Director, Mark Edwards & recent Vivid actor Daniel Williams will be workshop leaders at the International TRY drama Festival. This is run by Theatre Royal Newcastle and will run for a week.

Vivid will be performing at the 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival with their production of ‘The Collector’ by John Fowles (adaptation by Mark Healy). If you can’t make the festival, we will be performing warm-up shows at the Arc (with all profits from Satuday’s performance going to the b-eat eating disorder charity).

Vivid is pleased to announce the final two plays of our 2009 season. ‘After Darwin’ is produced alongside Newcastle University and the Darwin Festival. Performances will be at Theatre Royal Newcastle Studio, Arc and a festival venue TBC. We are also pleased to announce a new production of ‘The Revenger’s Tragedy’ which will be performing in the Main House at Arc. Both productions will be in November 2009 and booking information will follow shortly.
